| The senior class of 1970 conducted its last assembly yesterday afternoon. The traditional move-up ceremony and reading of the class will and prophecy followed the awards assembly. Seniors who received individual awards included: Lori Berg -The John Phillip Sousa Award annually given to the senior who the bank members think has best participated in band activities, Don St. Peter -National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Award and a plaque from the student body "in appreciation for outstanding service as president of the student body for 1969-1970," Mary Killen -National French Competition Award for ranking highest in the state of Montana, Patti Whitney -Betty Crocker Homemaker Award (gold charm), Susan Lacosta -letter of commendation for placing in the upper 2% National Merit Testings, Darlene Biegalke, Mary Killen, and Susan Lacosta -Certificate of Achievement for having straight A's all eight semesters in Math, Mary Killen and Susan Lacosta -Letter of Achievement for having straight A's throughout high school in English, Don St. Peter, Susan Lacosta, and Darlene Biegalke -Outstanding Teenager of America Competition Award. | Father James Reynolds, on behalf of the Sacred Heart Roundtable and high school, presented a gift to Mrs. Chryl Mattocks, Shamraeleen advisor in appreciation for her time and effort spent with the drill team. The A-squad cheerleader presented a gift certificate to Father Reynolds, Sister Mary Ann and B-squad cheerleader for their help.Sister Annette and J.J. Cadlo accepted the certificate awarded to the school's English department for having Don St. Peter as a NCTE award winner. Cadlo, the Usher Club advisor, received a gift certificate for the club members. The yearbook staff announced that the 1969-1970 Recordette was dedicated to Sister Annette. Mrs. Cheryl Mattocks awarded individual trophies to Shamraeleen captain Francine Crone and co-captains Yolanta Kubik and Nora Crone. The other members received certificates of participation. Receiving awards for participation in Usher Club included: Kim Kelly (president), Kay Copps (vice-president), Gertrude Pembroke (secretary-treasurer), Audrey Baldwin, Kathy Connors, Mary Ann Hathaway, Ann Losinski, Debbi Owens, Kathy Schell, Pam Baldwin, Toni Gaglia, Patti Long, Sheila Neiffer, Barb O'Reilly, | Kelly Doerr, Jeanette, Strom, Rose Drennen, Linda Hammond, Yolanta Kubik, Mary Jo Mahan, and Vicky Welbes. The following students received awards for working the attendance office: John Crone, Camille Prevost, Susan Lacosta, Rose Drennen, Rich Dame, and Jeff Reid. Sister Patricia presented an award to Mary Killen for acting president of the Sacristans Club and to Darlene Biegalke, Marty Hagemeister, and Jane Schantz for being assistant librarians.Sister Mary Ann awarded cheerleading pins to the B-squad cheerleader, Jean Terhaar, Kathy Connor, Mary Jill Zignego and Karlene Leidholt and typing awards to Lori Berg, Barb O'Reilly, Delilah Biegalke, Gertrude Pembroke, Lenora Crone, Mary Jill Zignego, Eva Welch, Andy Strom, Chris King, Francine Crone, Mike Lester, Mary Urick, Pam Baldwin, Patti Long, Linda Miller, Joe Munsell, Jeff Reid, Larry Walby, Rita Schmidt, Kenny Makelky Joe Renville, Susan Lorbiecke. Barb Hamilton received an individual achievement in typing. Ed Kaiser and Jerry Kimball read the class will and prophecy and the senior class president Cathi Morris gave a large framed composite picture of the class of 1970 to the school. |
