Schaefer big man in line for Shamrocks
Lee Schafer, 205 pound Shamrock tackle, is the anchor on which rests future Sacred Heart fortunes, just as his brothers before him. A four year veteran with the Shamrocks Schafer will be seen in action against the Terry Terriers in Terry at 2 p.m. Saturday. Schafer is part of a line which may be one of the best in Shamrock history and has had an active part in helping the Shamrocks win their perennial championships.
Bulwarks Irish middle
One of the Sacred Heart Shamrocks small senior contingent, Joe Peila helps to keep the Shamrock winning tradition. Peila is a 155 pound guard offensively and defensively and along with three other senior in the front wall is one good reason why the Shamrock have pounded out tow victories over tough opponents. Peila will start at guard in the Shamrock's first home game Saturday in Denton Field against Jordan at 7:30 p.m.
Irish have good depth in backfield
Hoping that the St. Labre Warriors are just as confused as The Star sports department over the above two men, we present Tom Gapay (22) and Don St. Peter, a pair of hard running back from Sacred Heart. Both can be placed into the backfield without too much loss. Gapay and St. Peter will be playing their last home game barring playoffs in Denton Field Saturday night against the Warriors.
More running room for Kaiser
The expansion program from 8-main to 11-man football is not expected to slow up Eddie Kaiser, senior fullback from Sacred Hear. Ed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaiser, is a good blocker and a fine tackler, as well as a good leather lugger. He will first see action at Broadus on September 5th. Sacred Hear will be playing Class B football in a new conference this season.
