20 Years Ago Darlene had been married 3 years to Mike Ballensky. They had 2 kids, Jason-2, Troy-6 months. They were leasing her dad's farm west of Miles City

10 Years Ago Darlene had been married 13 years to Mike. They had 4 kids, Jason-12, Troy-10, Molly-8, and Damian-6. She had worked for 2 seasons as a tax preparer for Rowland, Thomas, & Co. Mike was still farming and ranching.

Darlene works for 3 months of the year during the tax season as a part-time CPA at Rowland Thomas & Company in Miles City. The remaining 9 months of the year she spends on their farm/ranch 15 miles west of Miles City where her and Mike are still trying to figure out how to make a living out of dirt and manure. They raise Registered Red Angus cattle along with winter wheat and irrigated alfalfa.

Wedded Bliss "or Not" and Progeny "or Not"

Darlene will be married for 23 years in August to Mike Ballensky. They have 4 children.

• Jason is 22 and will be starting his 5th year at MSU-Bozeman in electrical engineering. His greatest accomplishment is missing his plane out of the MPLS airport as he was trying to find the airport bar that served Sam Adams's beer on tap.
• Troy is 20 and in his 3rd year of 5 at MSU-Billings in accounting. He recently had his motorcycle stolen 10 days after he took it to Billings.
• Molly is 18, just graduated from CCDHS in the 2000 class and will be going to MSU-Bozeman to snowboard (and get an elementary education degree).  Molly just made the 700 club for weight lifters--one of very few girls to ever do so at CCDHS.
• Damian is 16 and will be starting his junior year at CCDHS. Damian is the youngest of the family to ever get an MIP.

Parents and Siblings

• Father died at the age of 61 in 1982 from complications of diabetes, kidney failure, etc.
• Mother just turned 80 last December and for the past year has been living at a personal care home in Lewistown.
• Sister Delilah 46 is married to a rancher in Lewistown, MT where she is a registered nurse. She has 3 children.
• Sister Deana 42 is remarried to a farmer as of 1998 and lives at Conrad, MT where she works for the CSC. She has 4 kids from her 1st marriage.
