Kay's Past 30 Years

20 Years Ago Kay was married to Jet Black and they had a son, Jeston-4. She was the Assistant Editor for the Missoulian newspaper in Missoula.

10 Years Ago Kay was happily single and enjoying life with her 14-year-old son in Eugene, Oregon, where she was the city editor for the local newspaper. By this point, she'd tried living/working in Silicon Valley for a couple of years and had fled the fast lane for a more manageable lifestyle in a beautiful part of the country.

Kay has a challenging job overseeing the news operations for The Oregonian's five suburban bureaus. Her husband teaches high school and writes humor and political satire for public radio (you may have heard one of his pieces on Market Place) and just about anybody else who will pay. Life is good.

Wedded Bliss "or Not" and Progeny "or Not"

Kay has been married to a wonderful man for four years. She has 1 son.

• Jeston-24 is working for a consulting company that runs political campaigns, and he recently returned to Portland to work on the re-election campaign of an Oregon congressman.

Parents and Siblings

• Parents Dan, 88, and Etta, 82, returned to Miles City in 1974 after four years in Helena. These days they stay pretty close to home after some serious health problems last year. They are both better now and plan to visit Kay in Portland next week.
• Mary Etta died two years ago of leukemia.
• DiAnn is a counselor in Chicago. Her husband died last year.
• Mike and his wife Marty (Reid) own a hardware and lumber business in Broadus.
• Theresa is an occupational therapist in Missoula.
• Ed owns a bridge-building company in Billings.
• Gail Murry Nottingham, the adopted Copps, is a librarian in Colorado
